Detailed Description

HAZOP methodology has been developed to identify hazards in process installations as well as operational problems, which –even though they are not critical in terms of safety– can influence the productivity of the installation. The main concept behind HAZOP studies is that processes perform well within the limits set by the design. Should a process derive from the design conditions, operational problems and events may occur.

The goal of the HAZOP studies is to analyse the safety and availability of the process installations. Should the existing safety systems prove to be inadequate, suggestions are made regarding the adoption of supplementary measures that will improve safety and availability.
